FEAST Policy Chat Webinar series

The Policy Chat webinar series is an activity within our “Policy dialogues to inform food system governance “ work package.
The first public policy chat webinar was hosted and organised by Samuele Tonello and Sofia Romagosa from EuroHealthNet.

Within the context of policy activities , we decided that it was important to ensure that our research was closely connected to policy developments in the field of food systems. For this reason, we initiated a series of webinars – initially intended for FEAST partners only – where the policy team presented specific policy issues. Following the presentations, FEAST partners discussed these issues, focusing particularly on how FEAST should or would respond to them. For example, we debated how best to integrate equity into our activities, the role of political perspectives in science, the concept of food security, and the developments of the Farm to Fork strategy.

Given the positive response to these internal meetings, the team decided to open these webinars to the public, involving external speakers from academia, EU institutions, and other organizations focused on food system sustainability. The goal of these webinars is both simple and complex: to provide a platform for views and topics that have been overlooked in the European food system policy debate, yet could contribute to a transition towards a healthier and more sustainable future.

Therefore, FEAST will organize three to four webinars per year, aiming to explore significant debates within the food system while also giving a platform to voices that have been previously neglected in the discourse. Each webinar will feature presentations from experts and allow ample time for questions, ensuring a participative experience. Given the large number of participants and the online format, all debates will be moderated by the leading policy workpackage team.
